SolRX Waterblock Sunscreen at Sailboats.co.uk
Athletes need sunscreen that stays on during high-output activity, does not migrate into eyes during sweating, does not compromise grip, and does not require constant reapplication that interrupts performance.
SolRX Waterblock was developed with exactly this use case in mind. The 8-hour water resistance rating was not designed for casual beach use. It was designed for the sailor on the water all day, golfer who needs coverage for 18 holes, the triathlete cycling and running after a swim, who cannot step away to reapply every 90 minutes.
The formula is non-greasy and absorbs quickly, which means it does not affect grip on equipment, steering wheels, or tools. It is also reef-safe and oxybenzone-free, making it the right choice for athletes who train in or near natural water.

(1) Mineral sunscreen uses zinc oxide or titanium dioxide to physically block UV rays by sitting on top of your skin. Chemical sunscreens absorb into your skin and convert UV rays to heat. Mineral sunscreen works immediately upon application and is less likely to irritate sensitive skin. Therefore, SolRX Mineral may be even better for sensitive skin. Both are hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested. Free from parabens, phthalates, and harsh chemicals that can irritate sensitive skin. If you have specific skin concerns, we recommend doing a patch test first.
(2) The Mineral Sunscreen is oxybenzone-free but contains additional UV filters that place it outside full Hawaii Act 104 compliance. Sport Suncreen is Hawaii Act 104 compliant and free from oxybenzone and octinoxate.
SolRX FAQs
What is different about 'Waterblock' technology compared to regular waterproof sunscreens?
Regular waterproof sunscreens are often oil-based and will therefore break down in water. 'Waterblock' technology creates a unique bond with the top layer of skin, allowing the suncream to stay effective for up to 8 hours.
For best results with 'Waterblock' technology, apply it 15-20 minutes before sun exposure to let it bond to the skin.
How water resistant is SolRX suncream - does it really last for up to 8 hours?
Yes it is incredibly water-resistant. Far more so than is required to meet the UK and EU regulations. Surprisingly, in order for any suncream to be able to make the claim of Very Water Resistant, sunscreen has to be tested on a person in an agitated water bath for 80 minutes and retain at least 50% of its labelled SPF rating. A duration of 80 minutes is the maximum amount of time that it can be tested for under UK and EU regulations and the specific wording Very Water Resistant is the only wording allowed to be used to advertise this.
SolRX far exceeds this and is clinically proven to maintain 97% of its protection after 480 minutes (8 hours) of continuous water immersion.
How often should I reapply suncream?
Most suncreams should be reapplied regularly to maintain their SPF (sun protection factor). The general advice is every two hours. Or immediately after swimming, towelling or sweating. However, high-end suncreams such as SolRX will maintain their SPF for up to 8 hours and do not need to be reapplied.
What is the difference between SolRX and high street products - surely water resistant is water resistant?
No. Surprisingly, to be classed as water resistant in the E.U. suncream only needs to be water resistant for 50 minutes! SolRX far exceeds this, it is lab tested to retain its performance for up to 8 hours. High street products are noticeably thinner in consistency, often liquid like - SolRX is more like a thick cream in consistency.
Is this suncream clear or white?
This suncream is clear after application.
Is this suncream reef-safe and eco-friendly?
Yes. All SolRX products are reef-safe and Hawaii Act 104 compliant. It is formulated without Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, making it safe for marine ecosystems and coral reefs.
Can this suncream be used on sensitive skin?
Yes. This formula is paraben-free, fragrance-free, and non-comedogenic (won't clog pores). It is hypoallergenic (designed to cause fewer allergic reactions) and widely recommended for people with sensitive or acne-prone skin.
Will this suncreen run into my eyes when I sweat
No. The Waterblock technology is specifically designed to stay put during intense activity. It resists running, dripping, or migrating into your eyes even when you're sweating heavily. That's why golfers, runners, and outdoor athletes trust it for all-day wear.
Can I use this on my face
Yes. The Waterblock formula is safe for both face and body. It's non-comedogenic (won't clog pores) and hypoallergenic. Many customers use it on their face for sports and outdoor activities because of its superior staying power.
What is the best way to remove the product from the skin?
All of the SoRX formulations come off easily with soap and water! The Soap disengages the sunscreen. Further, the formulation keeps each individual cell protected without clogging pores and that is why so many Dermatologist Love SolRX
Why does the tube say water resistant 80 minutes when it's being marketed as up to 8 hours?
This is a packaging/compliance requirement, ALL sunscreens must state this. Independent clinically testing has proven that SolRX Waterblock sunscreens stay on for 8 hrs.
Is the sunscreen still effective up to 8 hours when not in water?
Yes. They keep you protected in and out of water for 8hrs.
